hi everyone , just been released from hospital my white cells were none exisitant & i am neutropeinic think that is spelt right basically open to any infection going so i have spent the last few days on iv antibiotics confined to a side ward thank god for hospitals & the fantastic staff i have been well looked after & i am now feeling much better . i have got to have injections now before each chemo to stop my white cell count from dropping so low again.i havnt felt well since i had this one on the 12th august & just got worse last thusday i went to oncology & they tested my blood & gave me some antibiotics then sent me home saying if i got any worse to get back in touch which i did on saturday i felt so weak it was unbeliveable i was admited straight away though i did have to wait for a bed at the time it was stressfull but looking back its understandable with the bed shortage etc.since then i have recieved top class care from friendly attentive angels from the domestic staff to the drs so i cannot complain. my oncologist wasnt happy i was sent home on thurs day but in the drs defence this did happen on my last chemo & after oral antibiotics i was fine . it was the same dr who treated me then so he wasnt to know that my count would fall futher so i dont blame anyone i am just glad to be back home with my family . i have never heard of neutrepeinic before so its a new one on me. i hope eveyone else is well i have really missed not being on line will write some more soon love n hugs treeze xxxx

Hi Treeze and welcome home

You've had quite a time of it, and it must have been quite scary not knowing why you felt so weak. I'm so happy happy that you received good treatment once you got a bed. Also now they will be looking after you with special attention. Hope you're not feeling too physically poorly now and are getting back a bit of your old bounce. Lots of love xxx Penny

Hi Treeze,
just wishing you luck and hope you are feeling a bit better soon, I did have a friend who suffered the same as you , but came through it all and is in remission. Glad that you got attentive treatment once you got a bed.
Best Wishes

HI Treeze,
Ej here. I'm not sure if you have heard of Neulasta... you can check out the VERY American web-ad! I had it (you inject it the day after your chemo), it makes your marrow produce more white cells. It can give bone pain (not TOO bad) and you will need mid cycle bloods done to monitor it..... but it makes a bit difference to how well your are between bouts.
Here in Ireland, I had it's cost covered by the government on something called the high-tech drugs scheme.. It ain't cheap, but well worth every dime if you stay infection-free, I think you'll agree. I did ACT.... 4 blasts of Adriamycin and Cyclophos and then 4 of Taxotere... finished ALL treatment one year and 3 months ago (did 6 weeks radiotherapy)... my hair is down to my shoulders and I am going to have my tissue expander switched for a long term implant next month.... so eyes on the prize.... we all get through it in our own sweet way. Take care, EJ x
