Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia

My friend has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia with the Philadelphia Gene and is having a partial match bone marrow transplant. Does anyone know anyone under these circumstances that has been cured or put in remission? They say the odds are not good but it's his only chance.

bone marrow transplant

Hi

It's encouraging to hear that your husband is doing well and I am really pleased for you. Would you mind telling me a bit about the whole process? I have just been told that I may need a stem cell transplant and from reading the leaflet they gave me it all sounds dreadful without much guarantee of success. Am I being dreary? Probably yes but it is so hard to get much of an idea without talking to people who have actually been through it. I have non hodgkins low grade as well and have just fought my way through eight sessions of chemo and hopefully am in remission. To be told that I now need to face 5 weeks in isolation etc is a bit on the heavy side!

Any info you could give me would be a great help.

Take care
