Escoffier (aka Mayte, Scoffy, Dishy Chefie etc) - at last some good news!
I think it's fair to say Mayte & Laura's (Metzy) disappointment and sadness last week touched us all. Well, I knew she would be back, and today she has proved it!! She has only gone and sweet-talked her way into an appointment with one of the world's leading BC oncologists, at the Royal Marsden! She's even managed to get one of his assistants to meet her on arrival in London ("so she doesn't get lost"!!) - what is she like??
Like many of us, Mayte has been through so much over the past few months, but has always remained cheerful and positive throughout her treatment, and at the same time provided hours of entertainment in the chat room and supplied yummy recipes in "Foodies Corner". Now it's our turn to return the compliment.
The appointment is next Monday, so we have just under a week to send all our positive energy in her direction (London, via Bolton!!!)

laura and i we will go on sunday to london and we will back on tuesday..so i will let u know a.s.a.p.i jut feel relief that we are going to see the top specialist in breast cancer...
is like having santa claus present's earlier...
i just want to back to normality and back to a profesional kitchen again...i miss cooking very badly!! plus i need to get better..i do promise laura (metzy) to marry her in 3 years... and i always keep my promises...; )

The Marsden have been wonderful with me so far. You may find that your old hospital, for a variety of motives, drags its heels over letting the Marsden have your old scans. They'll need these to compare - so before you reach that stage, it might be a good idea to ring and check. I'm having to make an extra visit in six weeks because my old hospital are having a strop or something about my defection and the airing of their errors (or they're just disorganised), and haven't forwarded the disc of scans.
Very very happy to hear that you will be getting top treatment. The Chelsea branch of the Marsden is very easy to find as they send out super booklet with maps - very close to South Kensington tube station. Even the NHS sections are super-clean, and the staff are smiley. Couldn't be in better hands, sweets! See you there xxxx Penny

My goodness, with all these positive vibes who needs power stations! lol Thank you so much to everyone for their hugs and love over the weekend and for sharing all your invaluabe information and advice. Me and Mayte were really touched and we wouldn't have missed it for the world. First we were deflated, then annoyed and angry and then upset. But we are moving onwards and forwards and taking the "bull by the horns" as Mayte says and we ain't giving up just cos of this crappy disease. So all chant after me "Castanualas to Mr C!" And if you haven't had the pleasure of seeing Mayte's "Castanualas" then ask her to show you at Marsha's bash (we need a name for the party) Lots of love to ya all xxxxxx

Mayte would like to let everyone know that her appointment with Dr Johnston went very well. He would like her to continue with her current treatment, but also wants her to be tested for Her2. If she tests positive it will open up more treatment options for Mayte. She will also continue to have 3 monthly check-ups.
Both her and Laura feel very relieved and positive about the future, and would again like to thank you all for your kind thoughts and wishes.

Thanks for the update Jayne. I'm glad that they are going to be doing some extra testing for Mayte, and also that continuing with existing treatment means that at least the old place managed to get that bit right. Yes, from personal experience one leaves the Marsden feeling more positive. xxxx Penny

I've added an a little info on my profile about what was discussed if anyone wants to know anymore about it, as Mayte has only been back afew hours and is off on a course learning how to fix and build motorbikes. I've been following your progress for a while now, you guys are great. Mayte is so lucky to have you (and you, her). I'm so glad that you have had such a good experience in London with the new Dr...... I have been so lucky with my oncologist here (in Dublin), it makes such a difference when you can communicate with these people and having a plan that involves a few options always makes you feel more comfortable that just following what has been dished out to you without any real feeling of consultation.
So it's a fresh start for you two, I wish you both all the good things you need for this next phase.

Hiya ej... thanks...well life moves on...and bikes is other of my passions apart of cooking..
i know i need to have check ups every three months, taken a pill once a day and have a lovely injection (mr.zoladex) every month...but i dont mind at all..i am blessed with having a cool partner, aka laura, my cutie dog gizmito junior and a bunch of great friends here from kinky jayne,steffy,jools, ali, kate,penny,marshipops,lanzy,carole, caz,liz p, les, wiggy,huli,gary,david,debs,lell,etc, etc...families, so hey i just celebrate all of these...and hopefully by january i will be back in a real kitchen poison my customers lol...just kidding..
so for the time been..i am going to continue getting my energy back after lovely chemo, going to my friends parties, doing this cool motorbike course, doing gardening, etc, etc...any other suggestions welcome...lol...
thanks again to all my friends here for ur support to my lovely laura and myself..we are all fighters and we as well enjoy it life...
