Fishing for a Cure

Fishing for a Cure

RIP Daddy. On February 10th my dad lost his battle to lung cancer. Although I can hardly call it a battle since he never even had a chance to fight. He never had a chance with Chemo, he never had a chance with radiation, and he never even had a chance to make it home and not die in a lousy hospital.
My dad loved to fish even though he never caught anything and I desperately want to change his luck so we are going to host a fishing tournament in Islamorada so we can send him some fish to heaven. We need 2500.00 for the site fee so we are raffling off Ipods to get us there. Ipods are brand new silver 4GB 2nd generation. Raffle tickets can be purchased through Paypal for $2 or buy 5 get 6. The tournament is going to be called DMC - Fishing for a Cure! We have not picked a charity yet but I'm leaning towards the cancer sniffing dogs because right now I have little faith in Doctors! But I also think its ridiculous that lung cancer gets the same amount of money today as it did 11 years ago. We have 3 Ipods and the drawing will be held on August 13th, 2008 You must include your mailing address so the tickets can be sent to you.

Sorry to hear about your Dad

Did he not have any treatment because you are in the USA? We have heard here how terrible things are there for people who are not able to pay a lot of money for the insurance money, and I feel very sorry for you. In England, you may not got the right treatment, and it may not work, but at least they don't throw you out in the street right at the start. The fishes to heaven is a nice idea, and reminds me of the burning of paper money (Hell Bank Notes) and houses and things for the Chinese people. Unfortunately I do not have any money to spare, as I have been living on very little money since losing my job upon being told I was terminal, but I wish you well with coming to terms with the loss of your Dad. Unfortunately we had a "scam" on here a few months ago, and I would have to advise my colleagues NOT to forward any personal details to you. It is a great shame when one trickster ruins things for people who are doing genuine things to raise money for charity, especially when those people are sufferers or carers for people with cancer. xxx Penny
