my girlfriend was diagnosed with follicular non hodgkins lymphoma grade 4 in 2004 she got several sessions of kemo and then it came back 1 year later she then had a stem cell transplant two years ago and was told she might only get 1 year this was a choice of three the other choices might have given longer but she may have been in hospital the majority of the time shr has been in remission for two years now and is on borrowed time she was very lucky to get through this as she was told by consultant she may not but u have to be very strong willed and support from family will always help she is also very stubborn which i beleive helped, make sure to tell the doctors to be straight as a lot of them beat around the bush tel them to be honest and straight and be ready for the truth as it can be shock when u first hear it they were great with her and she really appreciated it if u want to talk just email me and i will talk with u
I was diagnosed this past march with Grade 4 Follicular Lymphoma. I have just finished my 6 chemotherapy treatments of CVP-R. In October I will start my maintenance therapy of Rituxin for the next 2 yrs. I HIGHLY recommend getting a Port A Cath put in to receive your IV infusions. I have been very blessed through my treatments. I have been able to work (sometimes though I had to come in 1/2 dys) and my blood counts did not drop too low and I did not loose my hair!!! It got real thin, but I still got it!!! I made it through the treatments by a lot of people praying for me and having a positive attitude. One of the physicians I work with told me, "If you had to go to Wal-Mart to buy cancer...Non-Hodgkins Follicular Lymphoma is the one to buy!!. I will be praying for you!!
You may receive R-CHOP or R-CVP, usually 6-8 cycles every 3wks. I was diagnosed in Feb 2008 with Follicular Lymphoma Gr 1-2 with transformation to Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma Stage IV AS. Rare for my age. But happy to say I'm in complete remission. I could give you my long drawn out story, but only if you wanna hear it.
Please feel free to contact me anytime for anything!
