Heart cancer?!

Mum had the fluid around her heart drained because it had built to a dangerous level which is how they discovered the cancer there, she swears it was so painful afterwards that if it builds up again she will take her chances!!!!

I wasn't sure what you meant by around the heart: does this mean this it is angiosarcoma? I know this starts in blood vessels and can invade soft tissue including the heart. This may interest quite a few of us, as the site I looked at (www.medterms.com) said that predispositions included lots of factors from lympoedema following radical mastectomy, and the radiation-emitting contrast dye "Thorotrast" used for x-rays! This is also one of the cancers associated with environmental factors including agricultural sprays (eg on grape-vines) and certain plastics.

Hi Penny thankyou for your good wishes, Its this site and the people like you that helps and its great meeting new people and making special friends who know how we all feel, i hope when this is over for me that i can continue to be intouch with everyone. Just an update I saw my consultant today he examined my boobs and said there was no sign of it recurring, I asked him about the ct scan i had before chemo that showed up something on my bowel and lung, he said what showed up on my lung was less than a centimeter but they are doing the ct scan again, if it has gone then it probably was a tiny cancer but if it is still there then it would be a tiny cyst, whichever it was nothing to worry about, also the bowel we think is due to IBS that i have had for the last 10yrs but will have a bowel scan just to check. So basically today i have had the all clear. So just RT,2 scans and thats me done, no more chemo, being sick etc. Penny i really do wish your news could have been better,you are a very special lady, always here helping everyone, i really hope you continue to stay well and that next year you can have your 2nd anniversary.
