hello
hi every one i'm new to this site. i'm hoping to find some people hopefully in the same boat as me. i carry the braca 2 gene and have had preventative surgery. at the moment i'm having trouble coming to terms with everything i've had done, is there anyone out there that can relate to what i've had done. i hope there is i'm 38, married, no children just a new dog.
look forward to hearing from someone.

I'm not in the exact same boat, but I just wanted to say hallo back, and to wish you all the best. I am sure you have been through a tough time, and must still feel very scared and overwhelmed by what has so recently happened. This is a very friendly site and I am sure you will soon get lots of other responses - people not just rambling on well-meaningly like me, but with similar experiences. Anyway xxx Penny

Like Penny, i,m not in the same boat, infact i dont have cancer but
my best friends husband does.
I am a nurse tho, and for 5years i have been nurseing at stchristopers
hospice in london where i live.
i know of one person on this site that has something simular done
like you and i,m sure when thay log on to your profile thay will
make contact.
I just wanted to welcome you , and i,m sure there will be loads of
people here that will help you, including me if i may.
love lots xxx linda.
say i love you everyday.
i have had breast cancer and am waiting to hear from the genetic councilor as to weather i will be tested or not, i am worried about this due to having two sons and one daughter, but fingers crossed. i admire you for going down the preventative route, if i do get tested and test positive then i shall have the good side removed as i see no point on sitting on anymore of a time bomb than i feel that i sit on already, but i can understand how very hard the decision must have been for you xxxxxx
lots of love

i am not positive, i am realistic
hi linda thank you for getting in touch.i'm hoping by coming onto this site it will help me stop feeling that i'm the only one that this sort of thing has happened too. and that i wasn't totally mad for doing what i've done maybe it's because with everything i've had done it's been going on for 16 months now.i lost my sister to cervical cancer 5 years ago and i was the one that more or less took care of her. the list could go on for the amount of cancer in my family.that is why i am trying to convince myself that i have done the right thing. i also have 2 sisters that carry the gene as well but i'm the only one to have had surgery(which i'm constantly worried about, as i'm quite close to one of them). but i'm hoping that by visiting this site and hearing from people like you this will help. thanks again marie x
I am 34, carry the BRCA1 mutation and have not had surgery yet, but plan to in the next few years. What is the difference between BRCA1 and BRCA2?
hi elizabeth my name is marie, i'm 38 and i carry the brca 2 gene i'm not sure what the difference is but i'm sure you have saw a genetic councellor if so they would beable to answer your question. i myself have had surgery and am just on the finishing stages. if at any point i can help or you just need someone to chat to i come onto the site about once a week so just leave me a message. all the best xx
