I'm so sorry to hear your news - diagnosis always comes as a terrible shock ... and waiting for results is often the worst part, as you feel you have totally lost control of your life. I'm really glad you've found this site - it's very friendly and helpful and we all do our best to support one another. I know there are quite a few people on What Now with the same cancer as you, and I am sure they will be in touch with you once they have found your posting. Please try not to worry too much - easier said than done, I know - but you only have a few days to wait and then you will probably have your treatment plan and can take some control back and deal with it! And somehow, you will find the strength you need to cope. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Very best wishes, Kate xxx
Hello, Dusty! Sorry you have to be on here, but nice to meet you anyway.
My husband has perhaps the same cacer as you - there are two kinds really; one in the upper part of the oesophagus and one lower down. It sounds really frightening at first, but treatment is improving and people are dealing with this cancer. Try and look at Cathy's EC cafe;it's an American site with over a thousand members - if you get on their mailing list you get mails every day from people with the same problems. And there are success stories about people living with it and beating it, too.
My husban's type is higher in the oesophagus. He's stage 3.
It's not an easy journey, but it is a journey: you meet new people, learn things and make friends along the way.
thank you so very much, its the waiting thats geting to me, they say that they can not tell me for sure untill wensday, but i have been given a nurse, and told we will talk to others conserned ie dr ect, once agine thank you Dave x
Yes, it's like being run over by a car you never heard coming, isn't it? We all understand about the stress of waiting for results, and I want to add my very best wishes to you to for the appointment. I really hope that you are pleasantly surprised by the stage. Whatever happens next, remember that we shall be here for you; whether it is to celebrate your relief, or to give you some clues as to what the treatment might involve.
My own little contribution might be, even if what they say at first sounds bad, things might not turn out as bad as you are told. There is ALWAYS hope! xxxx Penny
How are you, just thought id let you know thinking of you, and hope you have good news on wednesday,i feel for you cause it was my husband who is the one with oesophegal cancer and i only found this site by chance, wish i found it sooner,so there is hope, although my husband was able to have operation and came home 2 weeks ago, still a long road too travel,so i thought id offer some encouageing news .
hi sim, the waiting time for results is really like a dark cloud, i was confirmed with breast cancer about 2 weeks ago, as i am past the menopause, i was offered to option of medication, iam taking arimidex, so far i have some strange side effects, at least i am blaming the tablets.
having been really sick at 3am this morning, is there anyone out there taking this particular medication who could enlighten me as to what, if any, side effects they may be experiansing?
i would really appreciate any information at all

It would be a good idea to get advice from a CM nurse about what benefits you are entitled to in this situation. They are really good at guiding you through the minefield. It may also be that you are entitled to free transport to the hospital if you are on certain benefits. Meanwhile, good luck with the results. xxx Penny

Hiya, I'm new on here and also awaiting staging and MRI/ biopsy results (cervical)... the not knowing sure sucks, doesn't it...
At least this site seems to have the most understanding people I've come across on a networking site. Just know you're not alone, eh?!
The best of luck to you.
