just diagnosed
i have just been diagnosed with anal cancer (13.02.08). I ssen an oncologist today where they found lumps in my goin too. My oncologist told that i have AUI 3 or AIU 3 (something on those lines) but i don't know what that is. Is there anyone who can help me out. They have said my bowel cancer is down to being imunosupressed as i have 2 transplants.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks Lj

Dear Lj, What tests have you had?
And what it it that your oncologist suggested you do next? I am not sure about the groin lumps - are you going to have scans etc? Do let me know what they said you need to do next. Are they talking about an operation?
I have not heard of AU before. Only stages: for example, stage A, B, C etc.
Do post more information won't you.
There are people here who can support you, don't worry.
love Tamara
Hi LJ, so sorry that your going through all this, i can't really offer you any advice, but plenty of support for what you are going through, the helpline on here is very good, and there is "Ask the nurse" they will be able to give you more solid advice, keep us posted on how you get along

Hi,
First sorry to read that. If you are imunosupressed your oncologist should give you some medecine to prevent any infection. I have Colorectal cancer and maybe is different. My tumor is above 13 cm from the bottom and I am in stage III (Duke C0. My treatment is radio and chemo for 5 weeks before surgery. So, at the moment I don't have any side effect, but like any chemo, you white cell will drop. In my case doctor gave me Fluconazole 50mg to prevent any infection in the mouth and linen, and also every foru weeks I get pentamidine to prevent any lung infection, becaue I can take septrin. But if you are imunosupressed like me you should take this ...even after the operation until your white cell will become in a normal level.
Take care
David
I was diagnosed with anal melanoma on March 24th and like your mother, it had spread to my lymph nodes. I have just finished my chemotherapy and radiation and go for another CT scan on the 26th of June to see if the lymph node has shrunk or if the cancer has spread. It's a rare and scary disease - I waited 6 months to see a specialist because a Dr. had told me I had external piles and to try to push them back in - he also told me that I did not want surgery for them as it would be the most painful thing I ever went through - so needless to say, I was too scared to go back to the Dr. for them. The bleeding got so bad though, that I had too!! Thank God I did. Physically and mentally I feel fine - my husband is taking it very hard, but is very supportive. I think it may be harder on families than on the person that is going through it. If I can be of any help, please let me know. God Bless
