kidney cancer / breast cancer

i have breast cancer and my husband has kidney cancer, my husband started off being ill feb 2005 they first diagnosied kidney stones for this. the left kidney failed to function due to them finding kidney stones,as it had blocked the passage from the kidney which in turn made the kidney to not function at all. after all the tests and small operations they finally decided that the kidney had to be taken out, this was done last april 6th 2006. in which since this he was told that they found cancer in the kidney, they also stated there was a problem with the lymph nodes on the left side were his kidney was but no one has explained as to what. as of up to today he has and still is very poory, he has lost more than 3 stone in weight from when he fist became ill, cannot eat very much, also now has very high blood pressure, and got rather a lot of pain and discomfort in the lower groin area and in his back area were the kidney was.he collapses in pain a lot of the time and the only way he can ease the pain is to curl up in to a ball which seems to help a little. on the eating side they sent him to a gastrenterology in case he had a problem in his tummy which was preventing him from eating,we just would like some one to give us any idea as to why he s still in the same ammont of pain and doesnt seem to be getting better only worse.

Hi,

HI am so sorry to hear your husband is so very poorly. My Dad died in September from kidney cancer. Unfortunately the medical profession let him down - he kept going to the Doctors - since January this year - I became quite a nuisance trying to get help for him but not knowing what it was. They did an endoscopy in late July - sent him home and said all was okay. On 20th August he was admitted to hospital and that is when he was told he only had 3-6 weeks to live. It was devastating news. I would insist that the hospital or Doctors do something for your husband - get a second opinion. Have you heard of a new drug that is supposed to help kidney cancer patients - even advanced ones - it called Sutent - ask about it - your husband has a right to be given a chance. Don't give up - keep fighting. I wish we had had the chance we my Dad - it was just too late. There is lots of information on the internet about kidney cancer. It may also be worth trying alternative medicines. I hope your husband is soon better and please don't give up - keep on at the Doctors, etc.
