Hi,
I am new to this. I have been reading some of your messages. Makes me feel quite humble as my daignosis is not serious at the moment, although it could be.
Yet, I feel so scared. I have had two different skin "lumps" removed and could have more. I have always been a fairly healthy person. Had a major stones op and hard childbirth but nothing prepared me for how I feel right now.
Even though I read of the courage of others in more dire circumstances it doesn't seem to help.
Am I "over the top", or will it eventually become easier.
Feel such a coward when I thought of myself as someone who could cope with anything.

Any diagnosis of cancer is scary and upsetting and skin cancer can be just as serious as any other form. Whilst keratosis is unlikely to become malignant, melanoma can be a devastating condition. When I had my first melanoma, I was assured by my dermatologist that it had been completed excised and was unlikely to recur. I took him at his word and gave it little thought for the following 10 years, I would suggest that you try to do the same, and every day that passes will make it easier to do. You can't undo what has been done, and worrying unduly now will do you no good.

Thank you for your well wishes. I know i am being unreasonable, and for me that is a great admnission!!
I actaully wish i could forget at the moment.
I have two more "undesirable lumps" that apparently need to come out and have been told that there are probably more.
What a price we pay for our youth! I lived abroad in different hot climates for 12 years so it is my fault. Didn't realise at the time obviously. Although I cant say that I spenda great deal of time in the sun as I was working etc too.
My Specialist said, in very strong words. (She comes from an asian background) that we caucasians shouldn't live abroad, as it is not just the sun but the whole temperature change that affects us.
But you are right. I know I have to get on with life and meet each day as it comes.
Hope you continue to enjoy life, you certainly have the right attitude.
