Mom has Cancer in her Food pipe !! Help us !!
i am Amit gupta form lucknow . i had a query regarding my mother .
She is 53 yrs old . Recently Cancer in food pipe is diagnosed below throat. we had also taken treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital,Mumbai .Chemotherapy along with radiation were given to her . after one month
we had a follow up check up where doctors say that Some part of cist is remaining and cannot be operated niether more radiations can be given . we are helpless .
PLZ show us path for her life.
I'm very sorry about your Mum. It sounds like Oesophegal Cancer. We do have some users on this site who have suffered from this, and I hope that they will be along to talk to you soon. I'm very sorry to hear about your mother. It happens very often that this cancer is discovered late and cannot be removed with an operation. But even if they haven't been able to get rid of all of it, it may mean that it doesn't grow, or not as quickly. Sometimes a tube (stent) can be fitted to keep the oesophagus open, too.
Perhaps your mother can have more chemotherapy later, if she needs it.
Look at the oesophageal cancer section on the Cancer Backup site, you can find more information there,and also on Cathy's EC cafe - an American site where a lot of people talk about how to live with this kind of cancer.
Cancer Compass is also a site which gives information about this particular cancer, and has a lot of users with the same cancer. There aren't quite so many on this site here yet (and I just hope there never will be - for their sake). The only thing to do is look around and read as much as possible - particularly the success stories of people in the same situation!
Tell us how you and your mother get on, and try to live for today, not fear for tomorrow.
