mum just been diagnosed with breast cancer

Hi there
Im new and my mum has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is having a lumpectomy and some lymph glands taken away or something. Then she has to wait for some results. They seem to think its been caught early. what results could she be waiting for? is it to see if she wll need chemo? shes not taking anything in so is just telling me snippets of information.
