I am a Masters student studying at Coventry University. I am wishing to recruit participants for a questionnaire-based project I am conducting which looks at health beliefs and prostate cancer screening intentions. As it is looking only at intentions I will need participants i.e. any of you using the forums or your friends and family, who have not ever had a prostate cancer test via blood test, digital rectal exam or similar, are aged 20-70 and have no close family contact with the illness (close family= first degree relatives i.e. brother or father). I am also attaching the questionnaire link to this message (not sure which link is best, I would try both to see which works best. Any problems just email me), though I will need to email you with the participant info sheet and consent forms for you to initial and code. The initials and coding information will be on these sheets, so don't worry about those at present until you see these forms.
If you do know anyone else interested in this project, just ask them to email me or I can provide you with further telephone contact details to do this.
Again, please ensure you do email me first in order for participant information sheets to be initialled anonymously and emailed back to me before you start filling out the questionnaire. If there are any technical issues just email me and I will send out the same questionnaire and info sheet, consent form etc, just in a different format. The entire participation should take no longer than 30 minutes. This includes reading the information sheet, consent form and initialing these and then completing the questionnaire. All data is anonymous and therefore cannot identify you by name.
This project's aim is to provide some much needed psychological evidence for the types of beliefs which influence the intention to screen for prostate cancer. Again, the website links are now provided below.
