but im not feeling to well at the moment.. i feel very tired and short of breath quite allot...
i suppose im actually worried that the cancer is back.... anyone had a reacurance after been given the all clear??? sorry to ask but i supose i want to know what to look out for,,,
i hate asking the consultant.. i always think they think im paranoid!!!
Thank you x

I certainly don't think that they should be treating you as though you are paranoid, but would welcome the fact that you have contacted them as you are genuinely worried about new symptoms, and also about your lymphoedema. It may just be that the extensive nature of your surgery has left you with far less energy as your body tries to cope with the lymphoedema BUT you do need to know, and certainly a CT scan would put your mind at rest. I know this is a really hard cancer to come to terms with, and you have had some really tough treatment, but don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it, rather than leaving it until your next check-up. Sending you lots of ((((((hugs))))))) and xxxxx Penny PS I'm a bit concerned that you sound like you don't have a very approachable oncologist: is this the case?
Penny
Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. You really need to see a dr with those symptoms even if it is only to reassure yourself. I understand what you mean about Dr's treating you as though you are paranoid but it is YOUR body and you have every right to have your questions answered in a way you can understand. If you are not getting that ask to see someone else. Lymphoedema can be as a result of your previous treatments and means your drainage system for the lymph fluid isnt working as well as it did before but the Dr's need to be aware of how you are feeling to be able to treat it effectively. Im a firm believer in the old saying "The squeaky wheel gets the oil" (I hope that not just a New Zealand expression but I'm sure you know what I mean) so SQUEAK! Too many people put up with things that they do not need to because they are afraid to speak up. If you get the impression that your Dr is brushing you off try telling him that you are frightened and do not know what to expect and hopefully they will respond to that plea. If not find someone else who will either another Dr or one of the many support groups I am sure you must have where you are.
Anyway, hoping this finds you feeling better.

Hi Penny and Leanne
thanks for getting back to me.. i have never heard "The squeaky wheel gets the oil" ha ha but i do no what you mean.
My doctor is a really nice guy.. but the macmillan nurse is much easier to talk to.. I went last year for my check up and i was telling him that i felt really tired, but he said... ohh well you know everyone gets tired... and then i felt a bit silly.
So know i just feel like if i say anything he will just say yes well your doing to much and you need to rest.... ha rest... i work i have a 3 year old son and a husban to look after i dont have time to rest.
you know sometimes when you think you may be causing your own symptoms.... like because your so paranoid about getting ill again you sort of make yourself ill..... ohh i dont know,.... i have another check up on the 21st of this month so i will have to just spill the beans,,,,, just hope i dont cry,,, i hate doing that in fron of people...
Thanks for your help ladies xx
