Oldham/Saddleworth Breast Cancer Group

Oldham has no survivors support group so im starting one.
It aims to organise social events and to advocate on behalf
of women suffering from breast cancer. Please join and help
ourselves and others.

Hi Oldhamer -

wishing you very good luck with your new support group. You might want to look at Alison's profile as she has put down quite a bit of potentially useful information about the group she has started in Buxton. xxx Penny

hi oldhamer, i have very recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, obviousley this has been a shock to the system, i wasgiven the option of surgery or medication, and i have opted for arimidex, as, hopefully, i have been diagnosed in the early stages.
at the outset my gp asked if i wanted to attend the clinic in oldham or fairfield, i chose fairfield as i live in rochdale.
is there anyone who has been on this medication, who may be able to share their experince .?

regards and best wishes,

sheels

Arimedex

Hi Sheels

Although i am not on Arimedex i am on Aromosin which is a very similiar drug. Generally i feel ok with my drug but common problem with these drugs are joint and bone aches and pains.
When i get up i am as stiff as a board but it tends to wear off as the day goes by.

Hope this helps

hi

As Penny has said, i have set up a support group for generic cancers in my area, if you need any help or support in keeping your group on an even keel, then please pm me, i have had a lot of support from the Macmillian who run a online E learning group for people starting up new support groups, believe me, its really valuable information that you attain. i have just come off my aromasin, i had arimidex before that but i found that i couldn't cope at all with either, so its a case of coping without at the moment, hey maybe one day they will find a more palatable drug, who knows!!!!
lots of love
Alisonxxxxxxxxx
