the spirit of some folk amazes me !!! ;0)

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in december and was def one of the the worst days of my life but Im a great believer in whats ment to be will be......

Anyway my room mate when I was in for my op has turned out to be one of the most amazing people I have ever met.

Shes funny, shes daft and shes also very brave. She also has her own family problems to deal with let alone her own illness.

I decided not to opt for chemo, she has started hers last week...... yesterday she went for her wig fitting.

The chemo she is on - they have told her that she will probably go up a couple of dress sizes...steroid chemo I believe.

Anyway this was meant to make you all smile.

She has now decided that with no hair and a kaftan to cover the excess baggage she will do just fine. She even calls herself the little bowling ball when she phones !!! he he

Just wanted to write this to say that life is a (sweary word here!) but even in the lowest moments there can always be light.

Humour is a wonderful thing, so every time you feel a little down think of my little bowling ball friend.....

Hi Les,

Hi Les,

So good to hear that you find things to laugh at. It is so important, although some people in our situation find it impossible. I felt it so important to keep my sense of humour, it go's a bit wobbly from time to time, but like you I just indulge in the funny things in life. I've just read an article about a woman who had her recon with muscle taken from her bottom. Now when she puts on a tight t shirt she asks her hubby "does my bum look good in this". It makes me grin every time i think of it.
Keep smiling,
lots of love,

thank you

Hi there

I just wantd to say a heartfelt thank you to both of you, I have been having a few problems staying focused and positive lately, (post - motivation) You have reminded me of a couple occasions I've laughed and not cried at my own situation. After my initial mastectomey he told me I would "never feel a right t.t (sorry) again" we so laughed, maybe just squaddie humour but, you have both taken me back there and I thank you for that. I hope life stays positive for everyone.

Humour is always there

People that know me are aware of the interesting time I have been having for the last couple of years, but a couple of weeks ago I met someone new, who told me he and his wife had been following my progress and that his wife had recently had a masectomy.

He explained that her friends expressed concern as to whether she was alright about it, and she had replied they're only there for two things - attracting a man and to provide milk - I got my man 30+ years ago and I can get milk in bottles.

I told my "new friend" it was really great to know how positive his wife was. He then told me well today my wife has been to the prosthetics lab for her artificial breast fitting and she has just sent me a very short text message which really sums it all up - the message read "Tit's wrong size!"

Now that really goes to show that "Life is far greater than what we look like" - let's all get on with life AND enjoy it!

Matt
