Hi my mother has been diagnosed with a second brain tumor afer having the first one removed she also received wbrt after surgery and has currently been taking tarceeva for 2 months,has anybody had experience on how effective tarceeva is for brain tumors.rick
Hi - very, VERY tentatively (this is extremely new territory for me and I'm only just tip-toeing around the subject of brain mets), but I THINK there may be some trial running in the US to see whether the new Kidney Cancer drug Sutent (sunitinib) can be effective for brain mets including (possibly!) those for lung cancer?>?????????????????
I may well have got hold of the wrong end of the stick about the lung cancer brain mets (as I'm trying to research the kidney cancer ones, so am sort of fielding out anything non-KC!), but Sutent may just be small enough, the docs wonder, to get through the blood-brain barrier. It does in rodents and monkeys apparently!
I'm pretty sure I've read that Sutent is being considered for one type of lung cancer, but not sure which.
If you key in

you'll get a list of trials (I entered Brain mets + lung cancer) but I have to say I can't spot anything immediately with Sutent in it.
All the very best - it's just awful, this whole shooting match, isn't it.
