VIN 3 - Vulva
Hello to all,
I have recently had surgery to remove VIN 3 from the perineum (vulva). In 1999 I had one of the minor Labia removed VIN 3 and the VIN 3 has now returned.
Is there anyone out there who has had this type of surgery that I can chat with?
Best wishes to each and every one of you for sharing your experiences
of this life threatening disease.

I haven't had this particular type of surgery, but as a fellow gynae-oncological patient I wanted to wish you all the very best for what must be a distressing type of cancer. Lots of love xxxx Penny

Hello Penny,
You truly are a remarkable woman, since my posting I have been reading some of the forums comments and I see you have taken your precious time to boost everyone here!!!
Keep taking your meds. and defying the odds and I truly wish you longevity!!
Last Nov. my father passed away from cancer a seizure to the brain caused by a secondary tumour, primary being in the lung. Diagnosed May 07 lung in-operable so started chemo May to Aug and told he was in remission and we were so very happy for him. No further treatment needed and follow up apt. Dec 07 unfortunately he did not make it!!!
Sad thing is I think they didn't bother doing further tests due to his age 74 even though he was a very strong independent individual who should never had died in such an undignified way, he was too ill to bring home to go peacefully at home!!!
Anyway I hope each and everyone of us stays strong & positive and keep requesting tests in which we are certainly entitled to!!
Best wishes and good luck to all, keep fighting Penny!!!

Very very sorry about your poor Dad - that must have been so difficult for you all. It is extremely hard to know how to handle these situations ubntil you have been through them already. Yes, I believe that we are all - even when told we are "terminal" - entitled to regular monitoring. The fact that your dad was 74 should not have come into it. However it does seem in the UK that different hospitals are allowed to have their own individual procedures. Personally we were just turned away with no regular monitoring at my old hospital, whereas the Marsden has a three-month monitoring system so that speed of progression - or indeed a temporary cessation of - in a patient's condition can take place. In this way your Dad may well have had a more dignified end - I am very sorry that this was not the case.
Anyway, all best wishes to you. Yes, we'll all keep fighting on - and hopefully in your case this will be to a very successful remission! xxx Penny
